Making an aqua style.
Make a new document, 1000×1000 pixels, white background
Get the type tool from the left menu and select the “Tahoma” font.
Now type your desired text. I used tahoma 120 points, black color.
Now enter the layer style. We will start to build this aqua style. First go check the stroke and give it a dark blue color. I used #00138e
Now go and check the “Gradient overlay”. Give it a gradeint overlay from a dark blue to a lighter blue, like in my example.
Now to cover a little the gradient, go to color overlay, choose a medium blue color and drag

the opacity slider to about 70-75%.

To “paint” a little the text, go to satin and use a light blue on Linear dodge.
Give a little bevel like in my example. Starting to look like aqua, no?
Now use a little inner glow, inner shadow and drop shadow. You can play with my values or

you can build your own aqua style. You’re done.

PS. You can save your newly created aqua style to for future use. In th Layer style dialogue, press “new style” and in the window that will appear, give it a name and hit OK. Your style is saved.

Photo retouching
First open your image you want to be retouched.
Duplicate the layer. Now hit CTRL+U to bring the Hue/Saturation dialog up and add more saturation. I’ve added 40 to saturation. Put the layer on “Color” mode.
Now go to Select > Color range.
In the dialogue box use the color picker to add more to selection. Basically, you need to select the face. Don’t worry if you can’t select it perfectly, as you don’t need to. Play with the color picker and Fuzziness, but beware that your selection do not affect the lips and the eyes or the hair.
Now with the eliptical (or rectangle marquee tool) right click on the selected area and choose Layer via copy. Now put this newly created layer on “normal” mode.
Now go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and give a quite big amount of radius. I’ve chosen a 8.8 one, but you should play with this value as it is depending on the resolution of your image. You’re done:

Making a compact disc
Make a new document, 1000×1000 pixels, transparent background.
With the circular marquee tool and make a prefect circle and fill it with white.
With the same marquee tool, make a smaller circular selection on the same layer and hit DELETE key. Your cd should look like this for the moment.
Now CTRL+click on the layer’s thumbnail to bring up the selection. Fill it with a blue color. I used #008ec3
Now duplicate the layer and on the upper layer from the layer style, give it a gradient overlay like this in my example:
Make a new selection like in my example and hit delete key to delete it. Put this layer on “Difference” mode and lower the opacity to 60%. Here is my example:
Now take the gradient tool, go to gradient editor and choose the “transparent rainbow” as in my example, then choose the angle gradient.
Make a new layer above all the others and fill it with the gradient (drag the gradient from the center of the cd to a corner). Your image should look like this:
Now CTRL+click on the big cd layer to bring the selection back, CTRL+SHIFT+I to inverse the selection and then go again to the gradient layer and hit delete. Put the layer on “Hard light” mode. Now your image should look like this:
Now duplicate the rainbow layer, choose move tool and rotate the layer like in my example, 90-130 degrees. Keep the layer on “hard light mode” but lower the opacity to 50-70%. You’re done:
