Creating a cool text effect
Start by opening a new file. Type the text with a bold font like arial black or impact.
Ctrl+Click the layer to get the selection of the text.
Press Ctrl+Alt+D to apply feather the edges.

Press Ctrl+Shift+I to inverse the selection.
Press delete to smoothen the edges.
From filter menu select modify>>contract. Contract the edges byu 2 pixels.

Delete the inner area.
Merge the layers by pressing Ctrl+E. Now press Ctrl+I to invert the colors.

From image menu select rotate canvas>>90 degree cw.
From filter menu select stylize>>wind.
Apply wind settings as shown.
Press Ctrl+F to make the effect stronger.
From image menu select rotate canvas>>90 degree ccw.
From filter manu select distort>>polar coordinate. Apply polar to rectangle mode.
Apply wind effect on the layer.
Now again apply polar coordinate. This time use rectangle to polar mode.
From image menu select adjustments>>hue/saturation.
Apply settings as shown.
A cool text effect is ready to surprise you.

Creating a Product Box in Photoshop
Box designs (like Eboooks or Software box) images are very popular on internet these days. Its quite an easy and intresting task to create an ebook or software box graphic in photoshop.Create two nice photoshop files using text, images and effects. One will be for front side of the box and other for the side. Make side graphic almoast one third in width of the front graphic. Here we assume your front and side images are ready to wrap on a box.
Drag both images in one file.
Select the front graphic layer and press Ctrl+T to get transform handles.
Right Click on the graphic and select perspective.
Drag the right side handles inwards to create perspective look.
Similarly select side layer and press Ctr+T to get transform handles. Right click and select perspective.
Drag its left side handles inwards to complete the box shape.

Creating a Navigational Header for a Website
Start by opening a new file. Fill the background layer with grey to white to grey gradient.
Double click to open layer style window, enable inner shadow. Use settings as shown. This will create boundries of the header.
Using rectangular shape tool create a rectangle at the top of the page.
Double click layer to open layer style window and apply gradient overlay. Use dark grey to light grey to dark grey gradient.
Create a line using line tool.
Similarly create a bottom bar and middle bar.
Using custom shape tool create a arrow and duplicate the layer.
Create a rectangle over top rectangle bar and type search.
Create a small line using line tool over bottom bar.
Double click to open layer style window and apply inner shadow. Use inner shadow settings as shown.
Duplicate the layer.
Type your links.
Create a new file. Using custom shape tool create tile 4 shape.
From edit menu select define pattern.
Type the name of the pattern.
In the main file duplicate the middle bar layer and apply pattern overlay. From the pattern window select checker pattern.
Enable layer mask and drag a gradient to mask the pattern layer.
 
Finally place your logo.
