Colorizing a Black & White Image

Start by opening a black & white image.

Take tan as a foreground color. Using pen tool draw a path covering face area.

Similarly create a path covering his arms.

Change the layer mode to color of all the path layers.

Take a different shade of brown as a foreground color. Create path covering the guitar.

Change the layer mode to color. Move this layer below the arms path layers in layer order in layer palette.

Drawing a Cartoon Pig

Start by creating an ellipse using elliptical shape tool.

Enable add to shape area form the top bar.

Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Create ears using pen tool.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

From layer menu select layer style>>create layers. Select and merge both the resulting layers. Using eraser tool remove the left area as shown.

Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Similarly create hand for the other side.

Create foot of the pig using pen tool.

Create a circle using elliptical shape tool.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Duplicate the layer. Scale it up and place it for the other eye.

Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.Move this layer below the big eye layer in layer order in layer palette.

From layer menu select layer style>>create layers. Select and merge both the resulting layers. Using eraser tool remove the right area.

Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Using pen tool create a shape as shown for the mouth of the pig.

Create teeth of the pig using rectangular shape tool.

Create some more rectangles to add details to the ear. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.

Using brush tool create a belly line and a line dividing both the legs.

Apply a nice gradient in radial mode to the background layer.

Start by creating an ellipse using elliptical shape tool.

Select the elliptical path using direct selection tool. Select convert point tool and click on left most node to change curve to angular one.

Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Select "fish" from the preset warp shapes at the top bar.

Enable subtract form shape area form the top bar. Create a vertical rectangle using rectangular shape tool.

Select rectangle shape using direct selection tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Select "Arc" from the preset warp shapes on top bar. Apply settings as shown.

Similarly create more divisions in fish shape as shown. With subtract form shape area still enabled create a circle for the eye.

Enable add to shape area form the top bar. Create a trinagle using polygon shape tool at the right edge of the fish shape. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to create a curve in fish tail.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Ctrl+Click the layer thumbnail to get the selection. From select menu apply modify>>contract. Contract the selection by 2 pixels. Create a new layer and apply a black to white gradient in linear mode.
